BREATHE EASY

with the Di Pietro engine

01  COMPACT

Our engines diameter is not much bigger than a flip out mobile phone; yet has sufficient force to power a car. A single engine can power a 600kg car.

02 LIGHTWEIGHT

This small engine weighs little more than a bag of potatoes (6 kg) and has no more than 10 major components.

03 EFFICIENT

Our engine achieves a mechanical efficiency of 90% and delivers constant torque with virtually no friction. Only 1 PSI (≈ 6,8 kPa) of pressure is needed to overcome the friction.
EngineAir's Environmentally Friendly solution

We have developed an efficient and environmentally friendly rotary engine that has the capacity to provide stationary and mobile applications with all necessary power and torque; without any combustion fuel or toxic batteries.

We use clean compressed air as fuel, which is sustainable, and affordable.
Learn HOW it works
The cylindrical shaft driver, forced by the air pressure on its outer wall, moves eccentrically, thereby driving the engines shaft by means of two rolling elements mounted on bearings on the shaft. The rolling motion of the shaft driver inside the stator is cushioned by a thin film of air. Timing and duration of the air inlet and exhaust is governed by a slotted timer which is mounted on the output shaft and rotates at the same speed as the engine.

Variation of performance parameters of the motor is easily achieved by varying the time during which the air is allowed to enter the chamber: A longer air inlet period allows more air to flow into the chamber and therefore results in more torque. A shorter inlet period will limit the air supply and allows the air in the chamber to perform expansion work at a much higher efficiency. In this way compressed air (energy) consumption can be exchanged for higher torque and power output depending on the requirements of the application.

Engine speed and torque are simply controlled by throttling the volume or pressure of air into the engine. The Di Pietro engine gives instant torque at zero RPM and can be precisely controlled to give soft start and acceleration control.

Our founder

An interview with our founder Angelo Di Pietro. In this video Angelo shows off his engine and provides a demonstration.

O2 Pursuit

The "O2 Pursuit" compressed air-powered motorbike has been designed by RMIT industrial design student Dean Benstead. Instead of a regular petrol powered engine, the O2 Pursuit uses our engine.

Questions AND Answers
  • Am I able to purchase an engine?

At this stage our interest is to license the technology; and not manufacturer it.

We would hope that once it is being manufactured (by a licensee) it will be available for purchase.

The technology is available for an upfront fee, as well as royalties on the gross sale price of the product.

  • How much does a license cost?

There is no fixed cost for a licensee as the cost is dependant on the application, region, exclusive or non-exclusive agreement, production volume in the first year, second year, third year and so on. Terms and conditions apply.

  • What deal do you wish to accomplish?

A deal that benefits all parties including the end user and environment.

  • Some people are questioning your technology, why?

People find it hard to believe that a tiny engine that runs on air can power a vehicle. Most people also do not understand how compressed air can be stored and utilised efficiently.

We have videos demonstrating its capability and applications. please search for Engineair Pty Ltd on YouTube.

  • How powerful is your engine?

Our engine can generate all the power you need because it is scalable.

  • How much torque can the engine produce?

Maximum torque is at stand still, the 6-chamber engine can generate 70 Nm at 8.8 bar air pressure and 40 Nm at 1500 rpm.

  • Does the torque fluctuate over the 360 degrees?

No, our engine can produce constant torque throughout the entire cycle.

  • Can you generate more power output with your current engine size?

Yes, more power output can be generated by increasing the engine inlet air pressure.

Considering that the engine size is only 266 cubic centimetres; which is already an extraordinary achievement.

  • At what RPM is the engine most efficient?

The best efficiency is between 1000 to 2000 RPM.

  • How many components are in your engine?

The engine contains 10 main components.

  • Are the components easily wearing?

No, most of these components do not touch with each other.

  • Does the engine need to be lubricated?

Yes, it uses 100% environmentally friendly lubricant.

  • What type of applications does your engine support?

Our engine can be used in both Stationary and Mobile applications.

It is perfect for industries that cannot use electric motors or internal combustion engines due to the concerns of fire, contamination and explosives; such as mining, petrochemical and pharmaceutical.

You can see examples of it's applications in our videos.

  • How does your engine compare to other air engines?

Our engine is up to 400% more efficient than existing air pistons motors in the market for the same power output and only 1/10 of the weight.

  • Why are people questioning the inefficiency of air compressors?

We have invented a new engine, not an air compressor.

However, as a result of our engine’s efficiency, the air compressor now is only required to produce ¼ of the original air production to drive the engine; producing the same power output.

  • Is there a way to increase the energy density of compressed air?

Yes, it is simple, affordable and efficient.

  • What is the range of your air car?

It is comparible to electric cars but much more affordable and non-toxic.

  • Can your engine generate electricity?

    The short answer is yes.

You can generate electricity using compressed air that drives our engine, BUT, large productions of electricity is best done using an Organic Rankine Cycle system; with our engine.

  • Why would I choose an air engine over petrol/electric?

The world is changing. People are better informed now.

The petroleum companies have already made a mess of our world. We believe that batteries will be the next environmental disaster.
